About us

Welcome to St. Sophia's Hospital in Warsaw – a renowned health care provider with a long tradition. Founded in 1912 as a City Obstetrics Facility, St. Sophia's Hospital is one of the oldest obstetetric -gynecological centers in Warsaw.

Following Poland's rebirth as a democracy, St. Sophia's has been developing dynamically and has become one of the most popular choices amongst patients. Since 1994 we have been officially declared a “Child-friendly Hospital”; in 1999 were the first hospital in Warsaw to receive three-year accreditation from the Ministry of Health's Center for Quality Control; in 2001 were the first hospital in Poland to receive an ISO Certificate 9002. In 2006 St. Sophia's was awarded special mention in the XII Edition of the Polish Quality Awards and in 2009 came in fourth (top amongst women's hospitals) in the daily Rzeczpospolita's hospital ranking.

Our friendly, family atmosphere and professional care for both women and babies have been acknowledged by patients for many years. In recent years most of the babies born in Warsaw have been born at St. Sophia's Hospital ( 4832 births in 2009; 62, 585 births from 1992 to 2009.)
